Daniela Santanchè tells us about herself in these pages, illustrating
her future initiatives and her identity that is not limited to high
heels, but goes beyond, ranging from political projects to public
relations.Hon. Santanchè, the new Berlusconi Government is rich
of programs and proposals starting from the over time detaxation, that
finally after long discussions is beginning, but you think that
globally the Pdl programme is unfeasible, tell us your doubts. And if
you had been President what would your priorities have been and what
would you have felt able to guarantee to the Italians?
I would have surly preferred a less round about beginning for justice
and more profound thought for the “security parcel”, especially
concerning the economic and facility support of the Police that remain
the major pillar of our security. And I agree with the considerations
of Cossiga and Violante in these days, on the introduction of
parliamentary immunity until we are able to reach a balanced reform of
the jurisdictional law, where a fair trial is followed by a the
certainty of penalty. The Italians must be convinced that those who do
wrong will pay and that the State is a guarantee for everyone.
A politic personality, a business woman, an expert in communication
and image, an event organiser, an attractive woman with many sides.
This is your profile, but who really is Daniela Santanchè?
Besides that, the most important thing missing in this question is; I
am also a mother and a good one too. Any way when someone asks me, who
is DS, I can finally happily answer that my personal and political
lives speak for themselves. After years of jokes and sarcasm on my high
heels, Vip friends, I think that what I really am is a capable and
tenacious woman, that takes ahead things that she believes in with
effort and passion, has taken the place of the stereotype that many
papers tried to make me seem.
How much time and fun does your work connected to the 2 discotheques
you own, the Billionaire in Sardinia with Flavio Briatore and the Twiga
in Versilia, take up? A passion for contact with the public and public
relations that has deep roots.
I happily remember the door to door period at university, to pay my
expenses, quite happily. I professionally started there with public
relations.
Afterwards the work experience was difficult for my husband Paolo, the
famous plastic surgeon, but involving and pleasant. I love direct
contact with people and today my work is the natural evolution of what
I built and learnt in all these years with dedication and sacrifice.
The Billionaire and the Twiga are 2 creatures that began because with
the other associates, starting from Flavio, there is a long and
profound friendship and esteem.
We wanted to do something together in these 2 splendid places, Sardinia
and Tuscany, that we love so much.
Talking of business and looking abroad how do you see the current
relationship between Italy and America? How do you think one ought to
and could increase the commercial exchange between 2 historically
connected countries? What should both institutions and businessmen do?
Even the recent triple meeting in Rome of Gorge W. Bush with the Head
of State Napolitano, the President Berlusconi and Benedetto XVI, shows
that the Italy-Usa relations are strong and close. The civilization and
heritage that we share has created strong links that expand also to
trade. For some data, we are 12th supplier of the USA. Our institutions
should simplify and modernize all procedures to favour our companies
aiming to export, whilst companies must keep high quality standards,
making the difference of “made in Italy”, that the USA and worldwide
markets have always appreciated and that has been the motor of our
economy for a long time. Quality must distinguish us, we have a
beautiful country and characteristics that not many others have, and we
must valorise them.
The number of women in politics is growing with significant
assignments, is an important aim, but there is still a long road ahead
to eliminate 2 different weights and measures.
Unfortunately, we are behind in Europe and the rest of the world. The
way to go is still far and not withstanding the indications of the
European Union, for which women should be at least 33%, in Italy in the
equal opportunities in politics and in other fields we are behind. I
think that female access to politics means creating a different social
mentality. I love repeating a sentence of Micelle Bachelet that said
that if many women went into politics, politics would change.
What holiday and work programmes do you have for the end of the year?
For holidays total relaxation and fun with my son Lorenzo, whilst work
wise the projects are many. I proudly take ahead the “Protected Road”
initiative” on prostitution, the Government has proved to be sensitive,
opening a dialogue on the requests of my referendary committee to
abolish some laws of the Merlin law. I hope we continue this way,
saving as many young girls as possible and giving the citizens back
areas of the cities that are now degraded. If politics aims at
improving the life of people, one can do it anywhere, even outside of
Parliament.
