The other side of the coin
It is a period of deep crisis; the world, like never before, is facing
a dreadful enemy, whose causes are sometimes invisible.
The emergency is for everybody to see, poor and rich families are
experiencing uncertainty and trouble; fears and worries are tormenting
everyone and paralysing consumptions on every level, families,
companies, banks, governments that are all prisoners of the breaking
limits of the international parameters forcing us in a prison waiting
for the rules of the system to be written again.
Press, especially the one that is stronger and more decisive for the
economy decisions, regulates the tendency of the market, nourishes the
fears increased by the spectres of poverty in their swaying of
plague-victims.
Newspapers, magazines and telecasts are imbued with tragedies,
completely unreal indexes are damaging strong and productive companies
on the Exchange, it seems that an occult direction is supervising
everything.
It is therefore necessary to learn how to read between the lines, to
think that, given everything, there are people that get lost, but
there are also many people that win, grow rich, make bonds collapse
with strategic actions to buy them for a trifl e.
World is still spinning, economies, albeit weak like the Italian one,
are still lively, they go on, sometimes quickly, thanks to those men
who are able to read between the lines, who can seize opportunities,
men who are fortifi ed by the courage they have gained during their
past experiences or desirous of redemption for previous setbacks.
With Andrea Tomat, president of Lotto Spa and president of Veneto
Confi ndustria, we are about to tell you a story of success, a
business man who, like a chrysalis becomes a butterfl y, became an
entrepreneur, a man who won and is still winning, proving to the old
school of thinking that a manager can become a better entrepreneur
than a man who was born entrepreneur: it is always the individual who
makes all the difference.
Tomat was a good president of Treviso Unindustria and kept the good
reputation of the entrepreneurs in Veneto, the people who have made
famous Italy. It was the journey of a representative of Confi ndustria
who became the president of the manufacturers of Veneto in a very
short time. And now he will lead them resolutely in this marsh of
doubts and little by little the recovery of the country will be
possible. Also our leader writers, like the minister Claudio Scajola
and the deputyminister Adolfo Urso, are showing us the paths leading
to the national recovery and paving the way for the Italian economic
development through industry and internationalisation. We need
ministers who can infuse trust and optimism, as the Prime Minister
Berlusconi always does; but, sometimes, he himself is mocked because
he always appears to see good things among so many misfortunes, but
only with great optimism and lucidity we can re-launch our country.
Through our magazines, we too are trying to produce some optimism and
we do approve the election of Barack Obama in the US: he is the true
hope of the US and of the entire world and we do hope he can carry out
his plans, from setting aside money, as he has already done, to
identifying the best development sectors without withdrawing into a
protectionist economy, a solution that is tempting every country, in a
moment in which only with everybody’s support we will be able to win
the challenge.
With It Biz we also try to give you some levity with pages that write
of the pleasures of life. Never before we needed some frivolity so to
recover the strength to fi ght. History teaches us that every crisis,
when it started, seemed unsolvable, and panic was always prevailing,
but then things calmed down again after the storm, all critical
moments were overcome and then
the world was even stronger than before.
We hope you will enjoy reading this issue.
